Significant Investor Visa (SIV) Complying Investment
What is a complying investment for the purposes of a Significant Investor Subclass 188 visa?
Complying investments for the Significant Investor visa include Commonwealth, State or Territory government bonds, Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) regulated managed funds with a mandate for investing in Australia; and direct investment into Australian proprietary companies.
Of these options it is clear that the preferred investments are ASIC regulated managed funds with a mandate for investing in Australia such as the Kirribilli SIV Australian Income Fund.
In the current environment, managed funds offer more investment choices and higher potential returns as compared with low-yielding government bonds while direct investment into proprietary companies is time consuming, requires a high level of skill and needs ongoing supervision.
Conversely, investment in an Australian regulated managed fund gives investors the confidence and peace of mind in knowing that mechanisms such as audit, accounting, custody, investor registry and professional investment management are in place.
The Kirribilli SIV Australian Income Fund has been structured to give investors access to the 300 largest Australian stock exchange listed companies (S&P/ASX 300 index) while maintaining some exposure to Australian Government bonds, all within one easy to understand investment portfolio.
